WHY BECOME A MEMBER?

The CMSA is totally a non profit organisation receiving no government funding to support its ongoing running costs. As a result, it relies heavily on the support of its members to ensure that it remains dedicated to the development of the practice of quality case management, and continues to focus on the work needed to advance case management practice in the future.

I bring to your attention the significant achievements made by CMSA in the 2006-2007 year, in particular:

  1. Publication of follow up practitioner tools to the National Standards of Practice for Case Management.- the “National Standards Self Assessment Framework” &  the “National Standards Self Assessment Matrix”.
  2. Publication of the CMSA Ethical Principles document.
  3. Publication in collaboration with Aged care Services Australia (ACSA) “Case Management in Community Care” Discussion Paper.
  4. 10th Case Management Society of Australia National Conference held in March 2007.
  5. Consultative work in reviewing the viability of a model of certification for case management practitioners suitable for the Australian context.
  6. Collaboration with Australian Healthcare Association, who publish the Australian Health Review (AHR), and the subsequent development of a “Models of Care” sub section in the AHR under CMSA editorial.
  7. Online database listing and archiving of the Australian Journal of Case Management (ceased production Dec 06).
  8. Collaboration with Standards Australia (SAI Global) to expand the sales and use of the National Standards Documents across Aust and overseas markets.
  9. Consultation and participation in the major review of the case management and service coordination courses in the VET sector, in particular the  CHCO2 review.
  10. Expansion of the previous CMSA member bulletin to incorporate case management and member information.
  11. Review of the CMSA constitution and business structure to enable it to move forward in the future.

In the next 12 months, CMSA will continue building on these achievements with further work including:

  1. Survey of member needs to determine future direction of CMSA.
  2. 11th Case Management Society of Australia National Conference, 12-13 June 2008.
  3. Further collaboration with ACSA and other major stakeholders in policy areas pertaining to Case Management practice and needs of CMSA members.
  4. Continued collaboration in the CHCO2 review and the education needs of case managers.
  5. Major updating of CMSA website for the benefit of members to interact with each other and to further develop networking opportunities.
   6.    Development of case management consultancy and training opportunities
