Graduate Certificate in Rehabilitation Case Management
The objective of the Graduate Certificate in Case Management is to provide case rehabilitation managers and rehabilitation co-ordinators with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively manage rehabilitation programs and claims for injured and ill workers’ compensation claimants. It is a requirement of the program for students to have current employment in the occupational rehabilitation sector in Australia or a closely related area. Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate in Case Management with a grade point average of at least ‘Credit’ may be invited to apply for candidature in the Master of Human Services.
Specific graduate outcomes include - An understanding of rehabilitation theory, models, principles and practice; An ability to communicate effectively with all key parties to the return to work process including workers, doctors, employers and allied health professionals; An understanding of the impact of injury on the worker.
Lifelong graduate outcomes include - Development of problem solving skills; Enhancement of interpersonal communication skills; Appreciation of issues surrounding disadvantage in terms of its impact on individuals and society; Acquisition of adult learning skills including analytical ability, presentation skills and writing skills.
To be admitted to this program, students must be currently employed as rehabilitation case managers. This is essential because students will be expected to 'ground' their learning in their workplace and undertake assessment activities that involve rehabilitation case management in the work environment.
